Kelsey Axe

Senior Advisor

171-C Hardin Hall
Hardin Hub for Career and Academic Advising, South Campus

I am a Tar Heel born and bred!  I graduated from UNC in 2011 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in English.  After spending many semesters at UNC as an undeclared major I found my true calling, working within student affairs to aid students in forging their own academic and career paths.  I went on to study at Clemson University and received my Master of Education in Counselor Education-Student Affairs in May 2013.  While at Clemson I worked as a graduate assistant in the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, specifically working closely with the undeclared students.  My other experiences include working at Furman University with Student Activities, Tri-County Community College in Career Services and Southern Wesleyan University in the Department of Athletics.  I love to cheer on the Tar Heels and the Tigers, though when up against each other I pull for Carolina 100% of the time! I also enjoy watching almost any sport, reading many different types of books, running, playing with any kind of animal and live theater.

Originally from South Carolina, Fred Cave earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from UNC and a Master of Arts in Management from the Wake Forest University School of Business.  He began his career in education with the Duke Talent Identification Program as an educational advisor for the Next Generation Venture Fund, a college access program for gifted, underrepresented high school students.  He continues to work in college access through his involvement with Emily K Center’s Scholars to College Program in Durham, NC.  In his spare time, Fred enjoys spending time with family and friends and traveling.
Sarah J

Sarah Johnston

172-B Hardin Hall
Hardin Hub for Career and Academic Advising, South Campus

Originally from Essex Junction, Vermont (yes, she’s a Northerner), Sarah chose to move south for college because she was looking for a change of scenery and a totally new experience. She attended Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, where she graduated with a degree in History in 2011. Because she couldn’t fathom moving back to Vermont after undergrad, Sarah decided to attend graduate school at “the Other Carolina”; her master’s degree is in Higher Education and Student Affairs. When she’s not working with students, Sarah likes to exercise (not CrossFit), take day trips exploring different places around North Carolina, and spend time with her boyfriend.

Jill Kasher

172-D Hardin Hall
Hardin Hub for Career and Academic Advising, South Campus

A mid-western girl at heart, Jill was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She ventured up north for college and graduate from Villanova University where she studied Finance and Marketing. After graduation, she joined AmeriCorps and did a year of service working in the Office of Career & Civic Engagement at Winthrop University in South Carolina. Not ready to give up the Carolina blue skies, Jill moved to Chapel Hill in 2013 and has worked at the University since then. When not in the office, Jill is currently working toward her Masters of Science in Academic Advising through Kansas State University. With her (limited) spare time, Jill enjoys spending time with her husband, taking Zeus her St. Berdoodle (St. Bernard + Poodle) on hikes, working out at CrossFit Local, completing puzzles, following college basketball and soaking up as much as the local culture as possible!
