BiographyBeth Shuster brings a passion for working with students to her job, as well as empathy for the transitions experienced during the college years. After agonizing over the choice between theater and genetics, she earned her BA in Biochemistry before proceeding to a Ph.D.in Genetics and a subsequent role on the faculty. The shift to advising was not in the original plan, but allowed her to remain actively engaged with college students while balancing life with work. Dr. Shuster has been advising at UNC since 2004. Her two children (now in college and beyond) provide perspective on some of the issues faced by students. In her spare (?) time, she enjoys reading, gardening and (occasionally) making jewelry.
