Steve Dobbins is a third-generation Tar Heel, with a family history in the University covering more than a century. Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from UNC-Chapel Hill with majors in International Studies and Radio/TV/Motion Pictures. He has been a staff member in Academic Advising since 1991. He assists the deans and advisors of all four divisions of the office with reports and mass communications to students. He monitors students’ academic eligibility status as posted by the University Registrar and works with that office to make any necessary adjustments when academic appeals are granted or when temporary grades are converted to permanent grades. Thanks to the generous efforts of his coworkers, Steve was selected by the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment to receive the campus-wide 2009 Robert R. Cornwell Unsung Hero Award. For fun, Steve enjoys acting and singing in theater productions around the Triangle.
