The Academic Advising Program helps students with registration by reviewing degree requirements, discussing class selection, communicating registration procedures and deadlines, and referring students to departments and other offices for further assistance.
While registration is administered by the Office of the University Registrar, academic departments handle enrollment for the classes they offer. The Academic Advising Program does not register students for classes, but advisors, deans, and staff do help students navigate registration and numerous registration procedures.
Registration advising generally begins when the Office of the University Registrar releases the Schedule of Classes for an upcoming term. Advising appointments become more difficult to make as the registration period approaches. Therefore, students who need to review degree requirements are advised to schedule an appointment well in advance. Students are strongly advised to check for registration holds before their registration date.
Students who are attempting to register for courses at another university should read the information about Transfer Credit.
