Biography

I am the lecturer/advisor for the Dept. of English and Comparative Literature, excited to be working with humanities undergraduates on issues ranging from the sublime (What should I do with my life after college? Did Keats really prefer suffering to immortality?) to the…less sublime (How do I drop a class again?). I’m from Massachusetts originally, and come to Chapel Hill by way of Austin, TX and Jupiter, FL among other places. Academically, I’m a Haverford College Alum, did a second BA at Trinity College Oxford, got my PhD in British Lit. at Stanford and taught for seven years at Florida Atlantic University before happily coming to UNC in July 2011. I am especially interested in the literature of war and in working with veterans here at UNC, and also work with our department’s undergraduate club, S.O.U.L.
