George Maitland

Senior Advisor

1003 Steele

Hi!  I’m Dr. George Maitland and I’ve been an advisor at Carolina for 11 years.  Prior to joining the Academic Advising Program, I held a variety of positions in and out of education.  My education career experiences range from teaching 5th grade, teaching special education and being a college professor at the University of Pittsburgh.  My outside of education experiences include owning and operating several small businesses including a counseling center for students with attention deficit disorder followed by owning several ice cream shops.  I really enjoy my current role as an academic advisor and I hope that shows in my interactions with Carolina students.  I especially enjoy helping advisees plan their academic pursuits and achieve their educational objectives.  While I hold advanced degrees from ACC rival Virginia, I consider Carolina to be my home.
