Academic Advising: 2015D Steele

I am a Lecturer-Advisor in the Biology department.I was born and raised in Israel, and did my entire academic career back there. I majored in Biology and after taking three years off (working as a farmer) I went to graduate school.I completed a Master of Science and PhD degrees in Biology, and then continued to do research in the Technion, Israel. In 2005 I moved with my family (wife and three lovely daughters) to Chapel Hill, where I pursued research as a postdoc fellow and a visiting lecturer in the Biology   department. My research was focused on physical interactions between cells during development. While I loved doing research, my teaching experience and interactions with undergraduate students led me to change my original path, and to pursue a career of a Lecturer-Advisor. Since July 2009, I am serving as the Biology departmental advisor.  I am happy to assist biology majors and prospective majors in any question related to Biology, from course planning,   through undergraduate research, and to challenges they face in and outside the classroom. Teaching 800 students every year assists me in understanding where they are coming from and hopefully- helps me to help the students to pave   their path towards their next step in life.
