Moving Your Final Exam Date
In certain situations, a student whose primary major is in the College of Arts & Sciences may need to request a final exam excuse to receive permission to move their final to a different day than what is outlined by the Registrar’s final exam schedule.
Students whose primary major is in the College of Arts & Sciences may request an exam excuse for one of the following reasons:
- Two final exams scheduled at the same time
- Three final exams that start within one 24-hour period
- Approved ARS accommodations that impact overall testing time
- Reasons such as religious observances or other serious problems that conflict with a final exam
Students who have a medical or mental health illness during the final exam period that significantly impairs one’s ability to prepare for or take a final exam should click here for more information.
Students who have been admitted into a Professional School will need to consult with their Professional School to request a final exam excuse.
Here’s What You Should Be Doing:
Before you complete the final exam excuse form, be sure that your circumstances meet the criteria for an exam excuse. If you feel your circumstances warrant a final exam excuse, you will need to complete the final exam excuse form by the deadline. You should know which exam you wish to move prior to accessing the final exam excuse form. You can access the final exam schedule on the Registrar’s website. Per UNC policy, if one of your courses is listed in the final exam schedule under the section for common hour exams, then the excuse must be used for that specific class.
